About Taiping Ancient Town

A hillside market town on the Chishui River, on the Guizhou border, where the Red Army crossed during the Long March in 1935: the second and fourth of the 'Four Crossings of the Chishui' were made at Taiping Ferry. Its lanes of old houses include the former quarters of the Red Army headquarters, hospital and bank, and a memorial hall up the town's stone steps sets out the history of the campaign.
