About China National Botanical Garden

Formed in 2022 by joining the Beijing Botanical Garden with the Chinese Academy of Sciences' garden, the China National Botanical Garden has a planned area of nearly 600 hectares at the foot of the Western Hills, between Fragrant Hills and Jade Spring Hill. The north garden has themed collections such as the peach, peony, lilac and rose gardens, a tropical conservatory, Cherry Valley (Yingtaogou) and a memorial hall to the novelist Cao Xueqin. It also takes in Wofo Temple (Shifang Pujue Temple), whose Hall of the Reclining Buddha holds a large bronze Buddha cast in 1321.

How to get to China National Botanical Garden

In Haidian District, about 18 km north-west of Tiananmen; the Xijiao light-rail line stops at the garden. The conservatories, Wofo Temple and the Cao Xueqin memorial hall are closed on Mondays (except public holidays).
