About Badachu

Badachu, the 'Eight Great Sites', is a hillside park in the Western Hills linking eight Buddhist temples and nunneries founded between the Sui and Qing dynasties on three hills. The best known is Lingguang Temple, an active monastery where a Buddha tooth relic found in the ruins of an older pagoda is kept in a pagoda built in 1964. Old trees, including white-bark pines and ginkgos more than 600 years old, shade the paths between the temples.
