About Congtai Park
A city park in the middle of Handan, first planned in 1939 to protect the Wuling Congtai, a terraced tower traditionally linked to King Wuling of Zhao in the Warring States period. The three-storey tower, about 26 m high, dates from the Qing dynasty and has been restored since; it stands beside a lake in grounds of roughly 25 hectares that also hold a plum garden and a shrine to seven sages, with a stele carved with a poem written by Guo Moruo in 1961 outside the main gate. It is a convenient stop for anyone interested in Handan's history as the Zhao state's capital.
