About Sacred Heart Cathedral, Hohhot
Sacred Heart Cathedral, built in 1922–24, is the seat of the Catholic Archdiocese of Suiyuan and an active church. It is a red-brick building in a mix of Romanesque and Gothic Revival styles, with round-arched windows, a cross-shaped plan and a single 30 m bell tower; a second tower was planned but never built. It was used as a warehouse during the Cultural Revolution and returned to the church after 1980, and the bishop's residence beside it is now the Catholic seminary of Inner Mongolia.
