About Wusutu Zhao Monastery
Wusutu Zhao is a group of Tibetan Buddhist (Gelug) temples on the lower slope of the Daqing Mountains at the north-western edge of Hohhot, the largest temple complex outside the old city. The main temple, Qingyuan Temple, dates from the Wanli reign of the Ming dynasty, and the other temples, including Guangshou, Changshou, Luohan and Faxi, were added around it between 1690 and 1725, each walled in red and set against the hillside. Remains of the Zhao-state Great Wall lie behind the temples.
