About Residence of Gurun Princess Kejing

The Residence of Gurun Princess Kejing was built for the Kangxi Emperor's sixth daughter, who married a Khalkha Mongol prince and lived in Guihua, as old Hohhot was called. Four courtyards on a central axis survive, from the screen wall and gate through the main hall and sleeping hall to the rear rooms, and a permanent display recreates how the residence looked and was used. After housing a teacher-training school in the early 20th century, it opened as a museum around 1990.
