About Jian'ou Confucian Temple

The former Confucian temple of Jianning prefecture, moved to this site in 1405 and rebuilt in its present form between 1869 and 1879. Its axis runs from a screen wall through the Lingxing Gate, the crescent pool and the Ji Gate to the double-eaved Dacheng Hall, flanked by side galleries. It keeps a Ming stele engraving of Confucius after Wu Daozi and a stele of the Kangxi emperor; the Jian'ou Museum, long housed here, moved to a new building in 2023.
