Nanping 南平Nánpíng
Tea hills of the north, from cliff-grown oolong to pine-smoked lapsang souchong

About Nanping
Nanping fills the mountainous north of Fujian, and its great draw is the Wuyi Mountains, where bamboo rafts drift down the Nine Bend River and rock tea such as Da Hong Pao grows among red cliffs. Lapsang souchong, smoked over pinewood, comes from the same hills, and black-glazed Jian ware tea bowls were fired at Jianyang under the Song. Jian'ou was the seat of old Jianzhou, which gave Fujian the 'jian' in its name, and Shaowu keeps the walled Heping Ancient Town.
