About Wulongkou Scenic Area

The gorge where the Qin River breaks out of the Taihang Mountains north-east of Jiyuan, home to a national nature reserve for Taihang macaques and to some of China's oldest irrigation works. Water has been drawn off here since the Qin dynasty, and the Ming tunnel intakes of the Yongli and Guangji canals survive, topped by shrines with stone statues of the officials who built them. Monkeys roam the slopes, and the scenic area also has hot springs and a gallery for the landscape painter Jing Hao.
