About Jiangtou and Changgangling Villages
Two old villages in Lingchuan County protected together as one national heritage site. Jiangtou, on the Gantang River north of Guilin, was settled by descendants of the Song philosopher Zhou Dunyi and keeps more than 180 houses and ancestral halls, mostly Ming and Qing; it is known for the many officials it produced. Changgangling, in the hills near Lingtian east of Guilin, prospered as a stop on the overland trade route between Hunan and Guangxi after the Lingqu Canal declined.
How to get to Jiangtou and Changgangling Villages
Jiangtou is in Jiuwu town (formerly Qingshitan) about 30 km north of central Guilin, roughly 45 minutes by road; Changgangling is a separate trip, near Lingtian town east of the city.
