About Luze Guild Hall (Luoyang Folk Customs Museum)

A guild hall and temple to Guan Yu built in 1744–1759 by merchants from Lu'an and Zezhou prefectures in Shanxi, beside the Chan River east of the old city; it is described as the largest and best-preserved group of old buildings in central Luoyang. Behind the gate tower, its two-storey opera stage, one of the widest in Henan, faces a double-eaved main hall with elaborate wood carving and carved column bases. Since 1987 it has housed the Luoyang Folk Customs Museum.
