About Eastern Zhou Royal Horse and Chariot Museum

A museum opened in 2003 over excavated burials of the Eastern Zhou royal city, from which the Zhou kings ruled for some five centuries after 770 BC and whose remains lie under central Luoyang on both banks of the Jian River. It is named after its chariot pit with the remains of a six-horse team, the 'Son of Heaven drives six' of the ancient texts, shown where it was found alongside other horse-and-chariot burials, tombs and bronzes from the royal city and its cemetery.
