About Liji Lane Comfort Station Exhibition Hall

A group of two-storey houses built in 1935 as a residential estate, which from the end of 1937 served the Japanese army as 'comfort stations' where women, many from the Korean peninsula, were held for sexual slavery. Identified in 2003 by Pak Yong-sim, a survivor from North Korea who had been held here, the derelict buildings were restored and opened in December 2015 as a branch of the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall. Seven buildings of about 2,000 m² hold exhibitions on the Japanese military's comfort-women system, with a statue based on a photograph of Pak taken at her rescue.
