About Ningbo Banking Guild Hall
The guildhall of Ningbo's native banks (qianzhuang), built from 1925 for their meetings and money-market dealings; Ningbo bankers had pioneered a book-transfer clearing system in the 19th century. Its three courtyards combine traditional timber halls with a Western-style brick front and red tiled roofs, and the rear council hall lies behind a garden with a domed pavilion. In 1994 it became the home of the Ningbo money museum.
