About Old Bund, Ningbo
A riverside quarter on the north bank of the Yong River at Ningbo's Sanjiangkou, where the foreign settlement grew up after Ningbo was opened as a treaty port in 1844, two decades before Shanghai's Bund took shape. Some 54 listed historic buildings remain, among them the former British consulate, the Zhejiang customs house, the old post office and the Catholic church, in cobbled streets now lined with bars, restaurants and shops. It is busiest in the evening, when the waterfront is lit up.
