About University Hall, University of Hong Kong

A castle-like building on a hill in Pok Fu Lam, built around 1861 by the Scottish businessman Douglas Lapraik as 'Douglas Castle' and later owned by the Paris Foreign Missions Society as 'Nazareth'. It blends Tudor, Gothic and Renaissance Revival styles, with colonnaded verandahs, Tudor arches, embattled parapets and corner towers. The University of Hong Kong bought it in 1954, and it has been a men's hall of residence since 1956.
