About Fengxue Temple
A hillside temple north-east of Ruzhou that keeps about 140 bays of buildings dating from the Tang to the Qing, laid out like a garden among streams and cliffs. Its oldest structure is the nine-storey Qizu Pagoda of 738, built for the remains of the monk Zhen; other highlights are a bell tower holding an iron bell cast in 1125, a Jin-dynasty middle hall and two pagoda forests with more than 80 monks' stupas from the Yuan to the Qing.
