About Jinji Lake
The lake at the centre of Suzhou Industrial Park, the modern district east of the old city, turned from a shallow marshy lake into a ring of waterfront parks and promenades under a landscape plan of 2003. Around it stand the Suzhou Culture and Arts Centre, the International Expo Centre and towers such as the Gate of the Orient, while the late-Qing Ligongdi causeway is lined with restaurants and a rebuilt Ferris wheel on the east shore reopened in 2025 as the Suzhou Eye. A footpath runs right round the lake.
