About Uprising Gate
Formerly called Zhonghe Gate, this is the only one of Wuchang's nine city gates left after the walls were pulled down following the 1926 Northern Expedition siege. The Wuchang Uprising of October 1911 began among soldiers stationed near the gate. The tower was rebuilt in 1981, and the surrounding park was redone for the 1911 centenary with a stele gallery, a covered corridor and a pavilion.
