About Dayao Road Kiln Sites (Wuxi Kiln Ruins Museum)
A line of old brick and tile kilns along Dayao Road on the east bank of the old Grand Canal, where kilns fired building bricks from the Ming dynasty onwards and are recorded as having made 'gold bricks' for the imperial palace; dozens of the kilns still stand along the street. A former factory on the street is now the Wuxi Kiln Ruins Museum, with Wuxi city-wall, floor and tomb bricks, replicas of bricks and tiles from across China, a cut-away kiln and hands-on brick-making.
