Liaoyang 辽阳Liáoyáng
One of the north-east's oldest cities, crowned by a 70-metre Liao pagoda

About Liaoyang
Liaoyang, on the Taizi River, is one of the oldest cities in the north-east: it was the seat of the Liaodong commandery under the Qin and Han, and Nurhaci's capital from 1621 to 1625, recalled by a rebuilt gate at the Dongjing City Site. Its landmark is the White Pagoda, a 70 m Liao brick tower beside the rebuilt Guangyou Temple, and the Liaoyang Museum shows local finds. Tong'erbao, to the north, is a busy market town for fur and leather.
