About Tin Hau Temple, Causeway Bay

Tin Hau Temple was built by the Tai clan, who according to legend found a red stone shaped like an incense burner on the shore here and built a shrine for it that grew into the temple. The main hall has altars to Tin Hau, the goddess of the sea, to Judge Bao and to the God of Wealth, and the roof ridges are decorated with dragons and Shiwan ceramic figurines of scenes from Chinese opera. Among the Qing-dynasty relics inside is a bell cast in 1747.
