About Yuexiu Park and Zhenhai Tower

Yuexiu Park covers Yuexiu Hill, the low hill that formed the northern end of the walled city, and was made a public park on Sun Yat-sen's orders in the 1920s. Its landmark is Zhenhai Tower, a five-storey tower with red sandstone lower walls built in 1380 on the Ming city wall, a stretch of which survives along the hill; it holds the Guangzhou Museum's display on the city's history, with old cannon and steles outside. Around the park's lakes and hills are the Five Rams statue and the Sun Yat-sen memorial obelisk.
