About Guangzhou Uprising Memorial Museum (Guangzhou Commune Site)

The former Guangdong provincial capital police headquarters on Qiyi Road was stormed on 11 December 1927 in the Communist-led Guangzhou Uprising, and the next day the Guangzhou Soviet, or Guangzhou Commune, was proclaimed here before being suppressed within three days. The city police handed the gatehouse and office blocks over to the heritage authorities between 1987 and 2005, and after restoration they reopened in 2007 as a memorial museum, part of the Guangdong Museum of Revolutionary History.
