About Suiyuan General's Yamen Museum
The Suiyuan General's Yamen was the office of the Qing general who commanded the Manchu banner garrison of Suiyuan, the walled 'new city' built beside Guihua (old Hohhot) between 1735 and 1739. Founded in 1737, its three courtyard routes now hold a restored display of the general's office, a Republic-era section and galleries on the history of Suiyuan and Hohhot. About 700 m of the Qing city wall survives at the former city's north-east corner, a few hundred metres from the yamen.
