About Shilongba Hydropower Station

Mainland China's first hydropower station, built in 1910–1912 on the Tanglang River, the only outlet of Dian Lake, with German Siemens generators and Austrian Voith turbines; it is still generating today. The old powerhouse keeps a 240-kilowatt Voith unit that still works, and the China Hydropower Museum, set up on the site in 2008, tells its history. A pond in the grounds fills a crater left by a Japanese air raid in 1940.
