About Huiluo and Hanjia Granaries (Grand Canal)

Two walled state granaries founded in 605 under Emperor Yang of Sui to hold grain shipped to Luoyang along the Grand Canal, inscribed in 2014 as part of the Grand Canal World Heritage Site. The Luoyang Granary Museum, set up in 2015, looks after both: at Huiluo, north of the old city, excavated storage pits, a simulated stretch of the granary-city wall and the granary road are shown where they were found. At Hanjia, nearer the Old Town, a hall covers Pit 160, which still held grain when it was excavated in 1972.

How to get to Huiluo and Hanjia Granaries (Grand Canal)

Huiluo, in Chanhe District, is about 9 km north-east of Luoyang railway station; Hanjia is on Chundu Road near the north edge of the Old Town; both are best reached by taxi.
