About Ziyang Embankment
A curved stone embankment about a kilometre long on the western shore of Poyang Lake, at the southern end of Ziyang South Road in Nankang, the seat of Lushan City. It was extended in 1179 by the neo-Confucian scholar Zhu Xi while he was prefect of Nankang, and is named after his pen name Ziyang. Built of stacked stone blocks 7–8 m wide, it has stone bridges to the shore and arched openings that let fishing boats pass through.
