About Former Marine Police Headquarters (1881 Heritage)
Completed in 1884, the former Marine Police Headquarters is one of the oldest surviving government buildings in Hong Kong. The compound has a main building, a stable block and a signal tower known as the Round House, which gave time signals to ships until the time ball moved to Signal Hill in 1907. The Marine Police left in 1996, and since 2009 the compound has been a heritage and tourism-themed commercial site with shops and restaurants in the historic buildings.
