About Grape Valley

Grape Valley is a green gorge cut into the Flaming Mountains on the north-eastern edge of Turpan, watered by the snow-fed Buyluk River and lined with vineyards, orchards and Uyghur villages. Walk among trellised vines and the airy drying houses used to make raisins, and explore old lanes such as Frog Lane, where karez water still runs past the houses. Grapes ripen from late summer, the season of Turpan's annual grape festival.
