About Turpan Museum

Turpan Museum is one of China's national first-grade museums and holds finds from the oasis's ancient cities and cemeteries. Its galleries, closed since 2025 for an extension, covered Turpan's history along the Silk Road, documents excavated at Astana and other sites, ancient coins and naturally preserved mummies with their grave goods, and a separate hall showed fossils of the giant hornless rhinoceros Paraceratherium.
