About Site of the Beijing–Hankou Railway General Union
This small brick-and-timber house in Hankou's Jiang'an District, a former private home, served as headquarters of the Beijing–Hankou Railway General Union after its founding meeting in Zhengzhou was broken up in February 1923. The railway strike organised from here was violently suppressed on 7 February 1923. It has been a memorial since 1981 with an exhibition on the strike, and was shifted slightly when Jiefang Avenue was widened in 1995.
