About Zhenjiang Museum (Former British Consulate)

Zhenjiang's city museum has occupied the former British consulate since 1958: five colonial-style verandah buildings of 1889–90 on the slope above Xijindu, rebuilt after the first consulate was burned in riots in 1888. Its collection of nearly 30,000 objects is strongest in bronzes of the Wu state, Six Dynasties celadon, Tang gold and silver, Song silks and paintings of the local Jingjiang school.
