About Zhenjiang

Zhenjiang sits on the south bank of the Yangtze where the Grand Canal crosses it, opposite Yangzhou, and is known across China for its fragrant black vinegar. Three hills by the river hold its main sights: Jinshan Temple, Jiaoshan with its forest of inscribed steles, and Beigushan, while the old Xijin Ferry street keeps stone lanes from the days when boats crossed here. To the south-west, Maoshan is the historic centre of Shangqing Taoism.
