About Baoding Bell Tower

A two-storey, double-eaved tower on a brick platform in Baoding's old city, whose present form dates from the Ming dynasty (Xuande era, 1426–35) and which has been repaired several times since. It houses a large iron bell cast in 1181 under the Jin dynasty and decorated with bands of Buddha figures and inscriptions. It stands a short walk from Daci Pavilion, so the two are usually seen together.

How to get to Baoding Bell Tower

In the old centre of Baoding, about 200 m south-west of Daci Pavilion; recent visitor reports say the tower itself has not been open to the public, so it is usually viewed from the street. Check that it is open before going.
