About Guangyuan Garden
The surviving main building of a residence put up around 1917 by Cao Kun, the Zhili-clique military leader then based in Baoding, which combined a Western-style hall with Chinese courtyard planning. Most of the original compound was demolished in the 20th and early 21st centuries, leaving one brick hall with a hip roof and carved stone doorway. It has been restored and houses the Baoding local-chronicles museum (opened 2015), with rooms on local history, the War of Resistance and the Republican period.
