About Tomb of Wang Jian

The burial mound of Wang Jian (847–918), founding emperor of the Former Shu kingdom, excavated in the 1940s and now the Yongling Museum. Unusually, its three chambers lie at ground level inside the mound rather than underground. The middle chamber holds the coffin platform carved with a band of female musicians, and the rear chamber a seated stone figure taken to be the emperor.
