About Chengdu

Sichuan's capital spreads across a plain watered for more than 2,200 years by the Dujiangyan Irrigation System, still at work on the plain's western edge beneath the Taoist temples of Mount Qingcheng. In the city, giant pandas feed at the Chengdu Giant Panda Base, Wuhou Shrine and Du Fu Thatched Cottage recall the Three Kingdoms and Tang poetry, and locals linger over tea in People's Park. Chengdu has been a UNESCO City of Gastronomy since 2010.
