About Guandu Ancient Town

An old ferry settlement near the northern shore of Dian Lake, about 10 km south-east of central Kunming, whose temples, pavilions and lanes were restored and partly rebuilt in 2001–2003. Its finest monument is the stone Diamond Pagoda in front of Miaozhan Temple, completed in 1458: a 16-metre central tower and four smaller corner towers on a square base pierced by arched passages. Several other temples survive in the town, among them Fading Temple and the Tuzhu Temple.
