About Old House, Wong Uk Village

The only old building left of Wong Uk Village, this two-storey green-brick house was built around 1911 by Wong Tsing-wo, a 19th-generation descendant of the Wong clan. The clan, from Xingning in Guangdong, founded the village in the Qianlong reign, and it became a trading station on the route between Guangdong and Kowloon. Most of it was cleared when Sha Tin New Town was built on reclaimed land, and the house has fine mural paintings and traditional decoration.
