About Rock Carving at Shek Pik

The Rock Carving at Shek Pik shows geometric patterns of spiral squares and circles that closely resemble those on Bronze Age objects, and the Antiquities and Monuments Office dates it to about 3,000 years ago. Most of Hong Kong's ancient carvings overlook the sea, but this one stands about 300 m from the coast, where the sea inlet may once have reached. It lies near the Shek Pik Reservoir dam on south Lantau and was declared a monument in 1979.
