About Yeung Hau Temple, Tai O
Yeung Hau Temple in Tai O was probably built in 1699 or earlier, a date taken from an iron bell cast that year for the deity Hau Wong. Fishing families, fish merchants and Qing coastal soldiers patronised it, and it is closely tied to the Tai O Dragon Boat Water Parade, a festival on China's national intangible cultural heritage list since 2011. The grey-brick and granite temple has two halls with a covered courtyard between them, and Shiwan ceramic figurines decorate the roof ridge of the entrance hall.
