About Tung Chung Fort
Tung Chung Fort, called the Tung Chung Battalion City in the Qing dynasty, was the naval headquarters of the Right Battalion of Dapeng, and a carved granite slab above its entrance is dated 1832. Six old muzzle-loading cannons stand along the walls. After the Qing authorities left in 1898 the compound served as a police station and a school, and it now houses a Rural Committee office and an information centre.
